Bottom Line
This compact powerhouse tackles stains like a champ and has earned its permanent spot in my cleaning arsenal.
I’ve owned the Bissell Little Green for about six months now, and it’s genuinely become one of those purchases I wish I’d made years ago. Between my two dogs, a toddler who thinks grape juice belongs everywhere except in a cup, and the general chaos of daily life, this little machine has paid for itself several times over at $89.99.
What sold me initially was the compact size (11 x 6 x 14 inches) — it actually fits in my hall closet without playing Tetris with everything else. But what keeps me coming back is how well it actually works on real-world messes.
What I like about it
The first time I used it was on a red wine stain on my beige couch that I’d basically given up on. I filled the 48 oz tank with hot water and the included 8 oz cleaning solution, sprayed the stain, and watched in disbelief as the suction pulled up dirty brownish water. Three passes and the stain was 95% gone. I’m not exaggerating when I say my husband literally asked if I’d bought a new couch cushion.
The 48 oz clean water tank is actually the perfect size — it’s enough to tackle multiple spots around the house without constantly refilling, but not so big that the machine becomes heavy and awkward. At 7.2 lbs when full, I can carry it upstairs without feeling like I’m at the gym. The 15-foot cord is long enough that I rarely need to switch outlets in a single room.
I use it weekly now, sometimes more. Dog accidents on the hallway runner? Gone. Mystery sticky spot on the car’s back seat? Vanished. That corner of the basement stairs where someone spilled… something? Clean again. The two included attachments — the tough stain tool and the 3-inch stain tool — handle different jobs surprisingly well. The smaller one is perfect for car seats and tight corners.
✅ The good stuff
- Genuinely removes tough stains that I thought were permanent — not just surface cleaning
- The 48 oz tank size hits the sweet spot for multiple cleanings without constant refills
- Compact enough to store easily but powerful enough to actually work
- Two different attachments handle various surfaces from car upholstery to carpet stairs
- Setup is literally plug-and-go — no complicated assembly required
❌ Worth knowing
- The instruction manual is pretty bare-bones — I had to YouTube how to properly clean the machine itself
- The box it came in was a bit flimsy; mine arrived with a small dent (machine was fine though)
- You’ll go through cleaning solution faster than you think — budget for refills
My honest take
After six months of regular use, I can honestly say this thing holds up. I was worried it might be one of those products that works great initially but falls apart quickly. Nope. The suction is still strong, nothing’s cracked or broken, and it’s handled everything from pet messes to toddler disasters without breaking a sweat. It’s also noticeably better than the cheap $40 knockoff my sister bought — hers leaves everything damp for hours while mine actually extracts the water.
The biggest surprise? How much money I’ve saved not calling professional cleaners or replacing furniture. That wine stain alone would’ve cost me $150+ to have professionally cleaned or I’d have lived with it forever. Now I actually feel confident having light-colored furniture because I know I can handle accidents. Is it perfect? No — I wish the instructions were more detailed and you do need to rinse the tanks after each use. But for under $90, it’s become genuinely indispensable in my house.
Have pets or kids (or clumsy adults like me) and need a reliable spot cleaner that actually works. Own a car with fabric seats that’s seen better days. Rent and want to tackle stains without losing your security deposit. Have stairs with carpet runners that your vacuum can’t properly clean.
Skip it if you…
Need to clean entire rooms of carpet regularly (get a full-size machine instead). Want something that works without any manual effort — you do need to make multiple passes for tough stains.
