Bottom Line
These bowls finally made me stop chasing my mixing bowl around the counter while trying to cream butter.
I’ve been using these OXO mixing bowls for about six months now, and they’ve completely replaced the random assortment of bowls I inherited from my grandmother and picked up at garage sales. I bake at least twice a week—everything from cookies to bread—and these bowls have become my go-to for literally everything. At $28.99, I was skeptical they’d be worth it compared to my old mismatched set, but honestly, they’ve made prep work so much less annoying.
What I like about it
The non-slip base is the feature I didn’t know I desperately needed. I make a lot of cookie dough, and trying to cream butter and sugar with a hand mixer used to mean one hand on the mixer and one hand death-gripping the bowl to keep it from spinning across the counter. With these OXO bowls, I can actually use both hands on the mixer—the rubber base grips the counter like it’s glued down. Even when I’m really going at it with the mixer on high speed, these bowls don’t budge.
The pour spout is another game-changer. I make pancakes every Sunday morning, and pouring batter from a regular bowl always meant wiping up drips from the side of the bowl and the counter. The spout on these channels everything cleanly into the pan—no mess, no batter running down the outside. Same thing when I’m transferring cookie dough or pouring beaten eggs into a hot pan. The sizes are perfect too: the 1.5-quart is great for whisking a couple eggs or making a small batch of dressing, the 3-quart handles most cookie and cake batters, and the 5-quart is my bread-making bowl. They nest inside each other perfectly, so they take up way less cabinet space than my old collection.
✅ The good stuff
- Non-slip base actually works—bowls stay put even with aggressive hand mixing
- Pour spout eliminates drips and makes transferring liquids foolproof
- The angled interior lets you read measurements from above without bending down
- Dishwasher safe and they’ve held up perfectly after hundreds of washes
- Nesting design saves a ton of cabinet space
❌ Worth knowing
- The packaging was pretty flimsy when mine arrived—one bowl had some scuff marks (still functional though)
- No real instructions included, though honestly they’re mixing bowls so not much to explain
- The measurements on the inside are in metric, which threw me off at first since I use cups
My honest take
These bowls have legitimately made baking less frustrating. I didn’t think mixing bowls could make that much difference—a bowl is a bowl, right? But the non-slip base and pour spout are features I use every single time, and they work exactly as advertised. After six months of regular use (and I mean regular—I bake a lot), they still look new. No staining, no scratches, no issues with the non-slip base wearing out. I’ve put them through the dishwasher probably 50+ times with zero problems.
My only real complaint is that the packaging could be better. One of my bowls had some light scratches when it arrived, probably from bouncing around in transit. Nothing that affects performance, but a little annoying for a $29 set. And while I appreciate that they have measurement markings molded into the side, they’re in milliliters and liters, which isn’t super helpful when American recipes call for cups and ounces. I still use my measuring cups for everything. But these are minor gripes—the bowls themselves are excellent and have completely earned their spot as my everyday mixing bowls.
Bake or cook regularly and are tired of bowls sliding around while you mix. Want a complete set that handles everything from whisking eggs to mixing bread dough. Have limited cabinet space and need bowls that nest compactly. Use a hand mixer and need bowls that stay put without holding them.
Skip it if you…
Rarely cook and just need one basic bowl for occasional use. Only have metric measuring tools and rely heavily on the bowl measurements (they’re in metric). Have a stand mixer that does all your mixing—the non-slip base is less valuable if you’re not hand-mixing.
