Bottom Line
Solid, affordable goggles that actually stay put during swim lessons and pool play.
I picked up these Speedo swim goggles for my 7-year-old back in March when she started swim lessons twice a week. At $16.99, I figured they were worth a shot compared to the cheaper options that kept leaking or breaking after a few uses. Six months and countless pool sessions later, they’re still going strong and have become a staple in our swim bag.
What I like about it
Right out of the package, these goggles fit my daughter’s face without any fuss. The silicone seal creates a nice, comfortable fit around her eyes without feeling too tight or leaving those terrible raccoon marks that some goggles leave behind. She’s worn them for hour-long swim lessons, pool parties, and beach trips, and I’ve never once heard her complain about water getting in her eyes or them being uncomfortable.
What really impressed me is how well they’ve held up. We’re talking twice-weekly chlorine exposure, being tossed in a swim bag with wet towels, and the occasional “I left them on the pool deck in the sun” incident. The strap hasn’t stretched out, the lenses are still clear with no scratches, and the seal is just as good as day one. I’ve bought cheaper goggles before that lasted maybe a month before the strap snapped or they started leaking constantly. These have genuinely been worth the extra few bucks.
✅ The good stuff
- No leaking issues even during underwater dives and flip practice
- Comfortable silicone seal doesn’t leave harsh marks on her face
- Strap has stayed elastic and adjustable after 6+ months of regular use
- Crystal clear lenses make it easy to see underwater
- Great value at this price point compared to cheaper alternatives that break quickly
❌ Worth knowing
- The instruction card is pretty basic – took me a minute to figure out the best way to adjust the nose bridge
- Packaging is just a flimsy cardboard backing – arrived slightly bent but goggles were fine
- The strap adjuster can be a bit stiff for little kids to adjust themselves
My honest take
For under $20, these goggles deliver exactly what you’d want from a kids’ swim goggle without any of the drama. They work right out of the package, they’re comfortable enough that my daughter actually wants to wear them, and they’ve survived half a year of serious use without falling apart. The fit is forgiving enough for most kids’ face shapes, and the seal really does keep water out – which is the whole point, right?
My only real gripe is that the instructions are pretty minimal. If you’ve never adjusted swim goggles before, you might fumble around a bit trying to get the fit just right. And yeah, the packaging isn’t impressive, but who cares about the box once you’ve got the goggles? At this price point with this kind of durability, I’d absolutely buy them again. In fact, I’m planning to grab a second pair as a backup because I know these won’t last forever, and I’d rather have a spare than scramble to find replacements when these eventually wear out.
Have kids in regular swim lessons or frequent pool time and need goggles that actually last. Want something affordable but not so cheap it breaks in two weeks. Need a comfortable fit that doesn’t leave your kid with painful marks around their eyes.
Skip it if you…
Need goggles for competitive swimming with specific performance features. Have a very small toddler who might need an extra-small fit – these seem best for ages 5 and up based on my experience.
